School Uniform

Sacred Heart School Uniform Code 2016/2017

Following the school parent survey in 2014, the majority of parents wished to maintain the uniform as it stands, with some items being more widely available if possible.  In considering the results, the Board of Management has ratified the official uniform:

Please see photographs of suitable footwear and optional wheelie bags at the bottom of this page.

Our Code of Behaviour states that It is expected that students come to school in clean and tidy uniform.

This means for students that:

a)      You wear the school uniform in school at all times. Other instances where the school uniform is expected to be worn are while representing the school and at all school related activities unless permission is given otherwise. An exception to this relates to times at which you have P.E.

b)      Students will not be allowed to classes wearing jeans, school hoodie, boots, runners, jackets or tracksuit bottoms. Defacing or altering items of the school uniform is not permitted. Skirts should be worn at a suitable length. Tee shirts may be worn under school uniform but must not be visible. Students without proper uniform will be referred to their Year Head and parents may be contacted to have the appropriate items brought to school.

c)      The school uniform plays an important role in the school community

The school uniform fosters school spirit, promotes equality among students and provides standard attire that saves parents/ guardians the expense of keeping up with latest fashions during the school year. There is also a safety aspect to school uniforms. Our students are easily identifiable with their uniform; anyone not in uniform in the student body can easily be identified and excluded if they are not students of the school.

Much teacher, class advisor and year head time is consumed correcting uniform issues. The uniform requirements are clearly stated in the school diary. Students presenting without the correct uniform will be asked to report to the office and parents may be called to provide the correct uniform so that the student can return to class.  The only markings permitted on the school uniform is the school crest. The school uniform must be kept free of badges, stickers or other attachments. Please note there are no other forms of the school uniform permitted other than what is listed below. No other additions or alterations to the school uniform is permitted.
