Sacred Heart School Student Rewarded by University of Worcester for Outstanding Academic Achievement

A former Sacred Heart School pupil was among almost 100 University of Worcester students to receive academic scholarships earlier this month.

Ellen Joyce, from Westport, was awarded the £1,000 scholarship by Vice Chancellor Professor David Green at the brand new University of Worcester Arena at one of two award ceremonies at the beginning of October.

Ellen, a second year Human Biology and Human Nutrition student, said: "I am delighted to receive the award – it’s an added bonus to be rewarded for achieving good grades.

“It’s great that the University runs such a scholarship programme as it encourages students to aim high.”

She added: “I’m very happy I chose to study at the University of Worcester – it is such a nurturing, supportive environment that is designed to help students achieve their maximum potential.”

In all, 98 students were awarded the scholarships, gained through outstanding academic achievement throughout the 2012/13 academic year.

Professor Green said: "We were delighted to be able to award an academic scholarship to Ellen and so many other students. The scholarships recognise terrific, high quality and extensive achievement, and it is only right that students who excel here at the University of Worcester are rewarded."
